Digital Shooter for PC

BioShock Infinite is a first-person shooter set in the floating city of Columbia. The downloadable game delivers a narrative-driven campaign centred on Booker DeWitt and the mysterious Elizabeth. It activates through Steam and requires a broadband connection for initial authentication. The title is published by 2K Games and carries an ESRB Mature rating.

Ideal for story-focused players.

This download suits gamers who want a single-player shooter with strong narrative and atmospheric world-building. A Steam account and internet access are mandatory for activation and installation. Buyers without a reliable broadband connection or who prefer physical media should look at other options.

DirectX 10 or 11 graphics with 512 MB video memory

The minimum specification calls for a DirectX 10 compatible card such as Radeon HD 3870 or GTX 8800 GT with 512 MB video memory. The recommended specification asks for a DirectX 11 card like Radeon HD 6950 or GTX 560 with 1024 MB video memory. Matching your graphics hardware to these requirements decides whether the game will run acceptably.

Questions about this item

How much heat and power will the GPU draw when BioShock Infinite runs all day?

The game itself does not generate heat; your graphics card will. At recommended settings a DirectX 11 card such as the Radeon HD 6950 or GTX 560 with 1024 MB memory will be under full load, so expect the card’s normal gaming thermals and power draw.

What must I already own to activate and play this download code?

You need a Steam account, a broadband internet connection for the one-time activation, and a PC that meets at least the minimum specs: Windows Vista SP2 32-bit, Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or Athlon X2 2.7 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 20 GB free space, and a DirectX 10 card with 512 MB video memory.

Will BioShock Infinite run on my older DirectX 10 card like the Radeon HD 3870 or GTX 8800?

Yes. The minimum requirements list DirectX 10 compatible cards including the Radeon HD 3870 and NVIDIA 8800 GT with 512 MB video memory, so those older GPUs can run the game at lower settings.
