An ISA Ethernet card with one RJ-45 port for 10BASE-T networking on 16-bit PCs
The 3Com 3C509B-TP Etherlink III is a 16-bit ISA network interface card that adds a single 10BASE-T Ethernet connection to an IBM-compatible PC. It is built for legacy systems that still rely on the ISA bus and need basic wired networking.
The card plugs into a 16-bit ISA slot and operates at 10 Mbps over twisted-pair cabling using an RJ-45 port. Bandwidth is limited to the 10BASE-T standard and the throughput of the ISA bus itself, so it cannot serve modern high-speed networks.
Only one RJ-45 jack is provided for 10BASE-T connectivity; there is no second network port for redundancy or segmentation. Buyers who need more than one wired link must add another card.

The 3C509B-TP is the single 10BASE-T RJ-45 version built for 16-bit ISA IBM-compatible PCs.
10 Mbps maximum; the card's Parallel Tasking design keeps the ISA bus fed so you approach that ceiling under load.
The 16-bit ISA bus caps sustained throughput at the 10 Mbps line rate, so the network link is never starved by the slot.
