Product Identity

The 3Com NC-3C0M01 is a new PCI network interface card that adds a 10/100 Ethernet port to a desktop computer. It uses a high-profile bracket and installs in a standard PCI slot. The package contains one card.

Who This Suits

This card suits owners of legacy systems that still have a free PCI slot and need a basic wired network connection. It is not for builders who require Gigabit speeds, a low-profile bracket, or a PCI Express interface.

Deciding Specification

The PCI interface and 10/100 speed are the single specifications that decide fitment; the card will only work in a motherboard with an available PCI slot and cannot exceed 100 Mbps throughput.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 3C905CX-TX-NM or the 03-0287-501 part number?

Both numbers refer to the same NC-3C0M01 card; you will receive one compatible variant that works with your computer.

What does the 10/100 rating mean for actual network speed?

The card negotiates at 10 Mb/s or 100 Mb/s full-duplex, so real-world throughput tops out at the 100 Mb/s Ethernet limit.

Will the PCI interface limit the 100 Mb/s connection?

The card uses a standard PCI slot, which supplies enough bandwidth for the 100 Mb/s Ethernet link.
