Butt Splice Connector 22-18 AWG

This 3M BSV18Q butt splice connector joins two wires with a crimp termination. It accepts solid or stranded conductors from 22 AWG up to 18 AWG. The vinyl insulation is coloured red for quick size identification. It is rated for 600 V and a maximum operating temperature of 221 degrees F.

Suited for standard crimp splices.

The connector suits installers making permanent inline splices in automotive, appliance or general electrical wiring. It is not for buyers who need a heat-shrink or gel-filled seal against moisture. It is not for applications requiring wires larger than 18 AWG or a different insulation material.

600 V voltage rating and 22-18 AWG range

The single specification that decides fit is the combination of the 600 V rating and the 22 to 18 AWG wire range. The barrel inside diameter is .145 in and the overall length is 1 in. Approved installation tools include models TH-440, TH-450 and TR-490. The part is UL listed, CSA certified and RoHS compliant.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the red vinyl butt splice for 22-18 AWG or a different colour for my wire gauge?

The red vinyl insulation identifies the 22-18 AWG range; choose this connector when your wires fall between 22 AWG minimum and 18 AWG maximum.

What does the 600 V rating mean once the connector is crimped in my circuit?

The 600 V maximum voltage rating applies to the finished crimp joint, so the splice is approved for circuits up to 600 volts when correctly installed.

Which crimp tools work with the butted-seam barrel and its 0.145 in inside diameter?

Compatible installation tools are the TH-440, TH-450 and TR-490 models, matched to the butted-seam barrel with a 0.145 in inside diameter.
