17-inch unframed privacy filter

The 3M PF17.0 is a 17-inch unframed privacy filter designed for monitors of that diagonal size. It limits the viewing angle so that only the person directly in front of the screen can read the content. Office workers and mobile professionals handling confidential data use it to prevent visual eavesdropping in open-plan or public spaces.

Simple placement with alignment care

The unframed design rests on the bezel or adheres with supplied tabs, requiring no tools or permanent modification. Installation is quick but the filter must be centred precisely; even a slight offset leaves a visible gap that defeats the privacy effect. Dust trapped between the filter and the screen surface can cause bright spots, so the glass should be cleaned thoroughly before application.

Fixed dimensions limit screen compatibility

The filter fits a 17-inch diagonal only; it cannot be trimmed or stretched to suit other panel sizes. Aspect ratio must match the display exactly, otherwise the polarising layer will not cover the full active area. Buyers with ultrawide, curved or differently sized monitors cannot use this model.

Questions about this item

How do I verify the 3M Privacy Filter PF17.0 is correctly reducing side views after fitting it to my 17in screen?

Look at the display from a side angle; the on-screen content should appear dark or unreadable while the view straight ahead stays clear, confirming the privacy layer is working as intended.

What does the 3M Privacy Filter 17in Unframed PF17.0 package contain and what extra items might I need?

The box includes the unframed privacy filter sized for a 17in display; you may need to purchase adhesive tabs or a mounting frame separately if your monitor bezel does not hold the filter in place.

Which 3M privacy filter version should I choose for a 17in monitor?

Select the PF17.0 model, which is made for 17in screens; match the filter to your display’s exact diagonal size and aspect ratio for proper coverage.
