Replacement power supply for LaCie drives

This ABLEGRID adapter delivers 12 V at 3 A to LaCie hard disks designed by Neil Poulton. It accepts worldwide AC input from 100 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz and terminates in a barrel tip connector. The unit is CE, FCC and RoHS certified and includes over‑voltage and over‑heat protection.

Suits owners needing a direct replacement

Buyers with a compatible LaCie desktop drive that requires a 12 V 3 A barrel‑tip supply will find this a drop‑in solution. It is not for users whose device demands a different voltage, current rating or tip geometry, nor for anyone powering non‑LaCie equipment without confirming the exact DC output and connector size first.

Bundle adds a mains lead for immediate use

The package includes one AC‑DC adapter and one detachable power cable, so the charger is ready to plug into any standard wall socket. No software, mounting hardware or additional tips are supplied, and the notice advises keeping the unit ventilated during extended operation.

Questions about this item

Does the 12 V 3 A adaptor need anything besides a wall socket to power my LaCie drive?

No, the unit includes both the AC power cable and the DC barrel-tip connector, so a standard 100-240 V mains outlet is all that is required.

Will this replacement supply run safely with the original LaCie power brick still connected to the same drive?

Only one power source should be used at a time; disconnect the original brick before plugging in this adaptor to avoid conflicting voltages.

How can I confirm the adaptor is delivering the correct 12 V output after I plug it in?

The drive should spin up and appear in your operating system without error messages, and the adaptor’s built-in over-voltage and over-heat protections will activate if the output drifts out of spec.
