Purpose and Compatibility

This ABLEGRID 12V charger replaces the power adapter for WD My Book Elite, Studio, Expander and Mac Edition drives. It accepts AC 100-240V at 50-60Hz and delivers DC output through a barrel tip connector. The unit carries CE, FCC and RoHS certifications and includes over-voltage and over-heat protection.

Who This Suits

Owners of the listed WD drives who need a replacement mains adapter with the correct barrel tip will find this unit fits. Buyers whose drives require a different output voltage, a different connector size or an OEM-branded supply should look elsewhere. The adapter is non-OEM and intended as a compatible spare.

Sustained Operation

Under continuous load the built-in over-heat protection monitors temperature and the over-voltage circuit guards against output spikes. The supplier advises keeping the adapter in a ventilated, low-humidity environment and not placing it on skin-contact surfaces during extended use.

Questions about this item

Which WD My Book models does this 12 V adapter power?

It is built for the My Book Elite, Studio, Expander and Mac Editions that require a 12 V DC barrel-tip supply.

Can I run the adapter on a 240 V mains supply without a converter?

Yes, the input range is 100-240 V AC at 50-60 Hz, so it accepts UK and EU mains directly.

How do I confirm the charger is delivering power to the drive after I plug it in?

The drive should spin up and appear in your operating system; the adapter itself has no status LED, so drive activity is the indicator.
