Purpose & Audience

This 9V AC adapter powers the Electro-Harmonix HOG guitar synthesiser with a centre-positive barrel tip. It is built for musicians who need a reliable replacement or spare supply for studio sessions, rehearsals or live performance. The unit accepts worldwide mains voltage from 100 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz.

Upgrade Context

It replaces a lost, damaged or worn-out original power supply for the first-generation HOG pedal. The jump is worthwhile when the existing adapter shows intermittent output, physical cable damage or cannot be found on a crowded pedalboard. It is not suitable for the HOG2 model, which uses a different connector specification.

Build Integration

The adapter plugs directly into a wall outlet or power strip and delivers DC output through the fixed barrel tip. No additional cables, voltage selectors or polarity converters are required. It frees up a dedicated outlet on a multi-pedal power brick and keeps the HOG isolated from digital noise on shared supplies. Over-voltage and over-heat protection are built in.

Questions about this item

What barrel-tip size does the adapter need to match the Electro-Harmonix HOG?

The adapter uses a barrel tip; the listing notes that the output and tip size must be confirmed before ordering.

How is the adapter installed, and what step do people often miss?

Plug the AC side into a 100-240 V, 50-60 Hz wall outlet and the barrel tip into the HOG; the step often missed is verifying the tip polarity and diameter match the pedal.

What upkeep will the power supply need over time?

Keep the unit ventilated and away from humid or skin-contact surfaces; if any abnormal behaviour appears, stop use immediately.
