  • Battery typeUPS
  • Worldwide AC input from 100 to 240 volts
  • Over-voltage and over-heat protection safeguards your speaker
  • CE, FCC and RoHS certified for safety compliance
  • Includes both power adapter and mains cable
  • 100 % compatibility with Altec Lansing IMW888 models

Purpose and Audience

This ABLEGRID AC adapter replaces the original power supply for the Altec Lansing IMW888 Super Life Jacket speaker. It suits owners who have lost or damaged the factory charger and need a direct plug-in replacement. Buyers who require a battery pack or a multi-device charging hub will not be served by this single-output unit.

Input Voltage Range

The adapter accepts AC 100-240V at 50-60Hz, so it works on household mains worldwide without a separate voltage selector. The barrel tip must match the speaker’s DC input exactly; an incorrect tip size will prevent connection. No other connector types or wireless charging methods are supported.

Protection and Headroom

Built-in over-voltage and over-heat protection shut the unit down if the load or temperature exceeds safe limits. The package includes a detachable mains cord for easy storage. Continuous operation in poorly ventilated or humid conditions can trigger the thermal safeguard and interrupt power.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 100-240V input version for worldwide travel?

The charger accepts AC 100-240V at 50-60Hz, so a single unit works on mains power in most countries without a voltage converter.

What does the DC output actually deliver to my Super Life Jacket speaker?

It supplies the exact DC voltage and barrel-tip polarity the IMW888 requires, with over-voltage and over-heat protection built in.

Is the barrel connector a standard size or proprietary to Altec Lansing?

The tip is a barrel type sized for the IMW888 and IMW888-SBLUE; verify the original adapter’s tip dimensions before ordering.
