Replacement charger for external drives

This ABLEGRID AC adapter replaces the original power supply for Seagate Expansion, GoFlex and WD My Book desktop hard drives. It delivers 12 V at 18 W through a barrel tip connector. The unit accepts 100-240 V AC input at 50-60 Hz for worldwide use.

Fits desktop drive enclosures needing 12 V DC

The adapter plugs into a standard mains socket and supplies the DC voltage required by compatible 3.5-inch drive housings. It frees the user from hunting for a proprietary brick when the factory unit is lost or damaged. No additional cables or converters are required.

18 W output covers single-drive enclosures

The 18 W rating comfortably runs one typical desktop hard-drive enclosure. It will not support multi-bay RAID boxes or devices that demand higher current. Over-voltage and over-heat protection circuits shut the unit down if limits are exceeded.

Questions about this item

Will the 12 V 18 W output limit how fast my external drive charges under sustained use?

The adapter delivers a fixed 12 V at 18 W, so the drive will draw only what it needs up to that ceiling.

Does the unit get noisy or hot when it runs all day?

Built-in over-heat protection keeps temperatures in check; there is no fan, so operation stays silent.

What must I already own for this charger to work with my drive?

You need a device that accepts a 12 V DC barrel-tip connector with the correct tip polarity and dimensions.
