USB charger and data cable for Olympus cameras

The ABLEGRID cable connects Olympus U720, U710, U700, U760, E500 and E520 cameras to a USB computer, hub or photo printer. It handles both charging and picture transfer in a single 3.9ft white cord. The oxygen-free copper core and foil plus braid shielding reduce EMI and RFI interference. This is a generic compatible accessory, not an OEM part.

Capacity and headroom for charging and transfer

The cable supports data rates up to 480Mbps under the USB 2.0 specification. Twisted-pair construction aims to keep transfers error-free at that speed. It provides enough length for desktop use while charging the camera battery. The USB power delivery is limited to what the host port supplies.

Practical limits of the USB 2.0 interface

USB 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0 hosts are all compatible, but the 480Mbps ceiling applies only on USB 2.0 ports. On older 1.1 or 1.0 ports the transfer will fall back to the lower standard. The cable cannot exceed the host controller's current limit or the camera's own charging circuit. It is not suited for cameras outside the listed Olympus models.
