Acasis TB501 Pro 80Gbps Enclosure

This new aluminium enclosure houses a single M.2 NVMe SSD and connects through an 80Gbps Thunderbolt interface. The JHL9480 chip drives the unit and a built-in fan starts automatically at 55°C to keep temperatures in check during heavy workloads.

Suited for fast external storage.

Content creators, developers and IT professionals who need up to 6000 MB/s sequential transfers will benefit when pairing the enclosure with a PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe 1.4 or newer drive. It is not compatible with M.2 key adapters used to connect PCIe expansion cards.

Thunderbolt 5 and USB4 2.0 support defines

The enclosure reaches its peak throughput on hosts that implement Thunderbolt 5 or USB4 2.0, while remaining backward compatible with Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, USB4 1.0 and USB 3.2, 3.1 and 3.0 ports.

Questions about this item

What M.2 keying and length does the TB501 Pro enclosure accept?

It supports single M.2 NVMe SSDs with B+M M-key; the supplied standoffs and screw match standard 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths.

How is the JHL9480 enclosure connected to the host and what step do users often miss?

Plug the included Thunderbolt cable into a Thunderbolt 5, USB4 V2.0, Thunderbolt 4/3 or USB4 V1.0 port; the step many miss is using a certified 80Gbps cable to reach 6000 MB/s.

When will the built-in fan need attention and what maintenance is required?

The fan spins up automatically at 55°C; clean dust from the aluminium vents every few months with compressed air to keep airflow steady.
