Compact 11.6" Touch Chromebook for mobile learners

The Acer Chromebook 311 combines an 11.6-inch IPS multi-touch display with an octa-core MediaTek MT8186T processor, 8GB of onboard LPDDR4X memory and 32GB of eMMC storage. It ships with Chrome OS and a 45W USB-C charger. The lightweight design targets students and frontline workers who need a simple cloud-first device.

Suits classrooms and light web work.

Buyers who rely on Android apps, web browsing and video streaming will find the 1366 x 768 panel and MediaTek integrated graphics adequate. The lack of an Ethernet port and the fixed 32GB eMMC capacity rule out users who need wired networking or large offline media libraries. Demanding creative or development tasks will exceed the shared-memory GPU and soldered memory.

32GB eMMC storage decides fit

The single non-expandable 32GB eMMC drive determines whether this Chromebook can hold the files and offline apps you need. If your workflow fits within that space and cloud sync, the device works; if you require more local room, you must choose a model with larger or upgradeable storage.

Questions about this item

Can the 32 GB eMMC storage be upgraded or replaced later?

The 32 GB eMMC is soldered to the board and cannot be upgraded; extra space must come from the microSD card reader or cloud storage.

What limits sustained performance on the MediaTek MT8186T octa-core processor?

The fanless design relies on passive cooling, so prolonged heavy workloads will throttle the 2.20 GHz octa-core CPU once its thermal envelope is reached.

How much heat and noise should I expect when the Chromebook runs all day?

With no fan the chassis stays silent; the 45 W adapter supplies up to 20 V at 3 A over USB-C, so the device stays cool during typical Chrome OS tasks.
