Portable SATA enclosure for 2.5" drives

The AcomData Tango TNGXXXUSE-BLK houses a 2.5 inch SATA hard drive or SSD in a compact black chassis. It connects to a host through either USB 2.0 or eSATA without requiring an external AC adapter. The unit draws power directly from the host port.

Fits laptop upgrades and external backups

The enclosure accepts any standard 2.5 inch SATA drive and adds external connectivity to systems that lack an internal bay. Its bus-powered design frees the user from carrying a separate power supply. The slim profile measures 5.31" x 3.19" x .63" and weighs .86 lbs.

Includes cables for both interfaces

Bundled USB and eSATA cables let the builder choose the faster eSATA link on desktops or the universal USB 2.0 port on laptops. No driver disc or management software is supplied. The product carries a three year warranty from the original 2009 listing date.

Questions about this item

How fast can data move over the USB 2.0 connection during long transfers?

USB 2.0 limits the link to its rated 2.0 speed, so the enclosure cannot push data faster than that bus allows.

Does the enclosure need a fan or AC adapter when it runs for hours?

No AC adapter is included and the spec sheet lists no fan; the unit relies on passive cooling through its aluminium shell.

Which cables or host ports must I already have to use both interfaces?

You need a USB 2.0 cable and an eSATA port on the host plus a matching eSATA cable for the second connection.
