Passive 3-Way Speaker Pair

The Acoustic Audio PA-500X is a passive speaker pair rated at 800 watts. Each cabinet uses a 3-way design with a 5-inch woofer, a 3.5-inch midrange and a wide-dispersion tweeter horn. The enclosures are built from CARB-compliant MDF with black aviation-grade carpet and include a 1.375-inch pole mount for the supplied stands.

DJs and Live Sound Users

These speakers suit DJs, bands or venues that already own a power amplifier and want a portable front-of-house system. The 1/4-inch jack input and output allow simple daisy-chaining of additional passive cabinets. Buyers who need built-in amplification, wireless streaming or a powered mixer should look at active alternatives instead.

Simple Stand Mounting

The included heavy-duty steel stands adjust from 32 to 44 inches and lock with a centre-pole safety pin. Each speaker weighs 24 pounds and measures 16.875 by 10.25 by 9 inches, so one person can lift and position them. The only common issue is ensuring the amplifier delivers enough clean power at 8 ohms to reach the 96 dB sensitivity rating.

Questions about this item

What amplifier power and impedance rating do I need to drive the PA-500X passive speakers?

The speakers present an 8 ohm load and handle up to 800 W, so choose an amplifier or receiver rated for 8 ohms that can deliver the power you want within that limit.

Can I connect the PA-500X speakers to my older receiver that only has bare-wire terminals?

Yes, each cabinet provides banana-plug binding posts and raw speaker-wire inputs, so you can use bare wire, spades or banana plugs with legacy gear.

How can I confirm the system is performing correctly after I set it up?

Play programme material and verify sound from the 5" woofer, 3.5" midrange and horn tweeter; the cabinets should reach a 50 Hz–20 kHz range with 96 dB sensitivity at 8 ohms.
