Product purpose
The Adafruit Dockcase Explorer Edition is a 10-in-1 USB-C hub that adds video, network, storage and charging ports to a laptop or desktop. It suits users who want a single compact dock to run two external displays, connect wired Ethernet and read UHS-II memory cards.
Setup checks
Confirm the host computer has a USB-C port that supports video output and power delivery up to 100W. The hub needs that port to drive both the HDMI and DisplayPort outputs at 4K@60Hz or a single display at 8K@30Hz. Without video-capable USB-C the display ports will not function.
Bundled extras
A 0.98 ft USB-C to C full-featured data cable is included so the hub can be connected immediately. The package also contains a printed instruction manual and the supplier provides a 12-month warranty with 24-hour customer support.

Questions about this item
Does the box include a host cable or do I need to buy a USB-C to USB-C cable separately?
The package supplies a 0.98 ft full-featured USB-C to USB-C cable so you can connect the hub to your laptop immediately.
Should I use the HDMI port or the DisplayPort when I only need one 4K 60 Hz monitor?
Either port drives a single display at up to 8K 30 Hz; for 4K 60 Hz both are equally capable, so choose the one that matches your monitor cable.
What sustained throughput can I expect from the 10 Gbps USB-C data port when I attach an external SSD?
The port is rated for 10 Gbps signalling; real-world transfer rates depend on the drive, cable quality and host controller, but the interface ceiling is 10 Gbps.
