Liquid-Cooled Workstation for Creators

This mid-tower desktop pairs a 24-core Intel Core Ultra 9 285K with a 360 mm liquid cooler, 64 GB DDR5 and an RTX 5060 8 GB GPU. It targets video editors, 3D artists and AI developers who need sustained multi-thread performance without thermal throttling. The system ships with Windows 11 Pro and a 4 TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe drive plus a 10 TB hard drive for bulk media storage.

PCIe 4.0 SSD Ceiling and Single-GPU Limit

The Z890 motherboard provides three M.2 slots, but the installed 4 TB drive already saturates the PCIe 4.0 x4 interface at up to 7450 MB/s read and 6900 MB/s write. Adding faster PCIe 5.0 storage would require a newer platform. Only one graphics card is supported, so users needing multi-GPU compute or a higher-tier RTX model must choose a different chassis and power supply.

Verify Case Clearance and Drive Bays Before Ordering

The case measures 447 mm deep, 215 mm wide and 469 mm high with two internal 3.5-inch and two 2.5-inch bays. Front I/O includes USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C, two USB 3.0 and audio jacks; rear I/O adds USB4 Type-C, 2.5 Gb Ethernet and Wi-Fi 7. Ensure your desk space accommodates the dimensions and that the 850 W 80 PLUS Bronze PSU meets any future GPU upgrade headroom.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 4 TB NVMe SSD or the 10 TB hard drive for my main games library?

The 4 TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe drive delivers read speeds up to 7450 MB/s and write speeds up to 6900 MB/s, so games load in seconds. The 10 TB hard drive adds massive bulk storage for media and backups but is far slower, making it better as a secondary volume.

What does the 24-core Intel Core Ultra 9 285K actually deliver in daily gaming and creative work?

Its 24 cores run at a 3.7 GHz base and can boost to 5.70 GHz with 36 MB of L3 cache, giving strong single-thread speed for high-frame-rate gaming and enough parallel threads for video editing, 3D rendering and heavy multitasking.

Which Wi-Fi standard does the Z890M AORUS motherboard support and what practical ceiling does it impose?

The board includes Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) 2x2 and Bluetooth 5.4, so wireless throughput can reach multi-gigabit rates when paired with a compatible router, while the wired Intel 2.5 Gb Ethernet port caps at 2.5 Gbps.
