System purpose

This Adamant Custom desktop is a liquid-cooled workstation built around a 6-core Ryzen 5 9600X processor and 32GB of DDR5 memory. Integrated Radeon graphics drive the display outputs, so the machine targets professionals who need strong multi-threaded CPU performance and large storage capacity without a discrete graphics card.

Build and connectivity

The system sits in a Corsair 4000D tempered-glass chassis cooled by a 240mm AIO and a 750W 80 PLUS Bronze power supply with a 140mm fan. The PRIME X870-P motherboard provides rear USB4 ports at 40Gbps, 10Gbps and 5Gbps USB, 2.5Gb Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, plus four M.2 slots and internal bays for two 3.5-inch and two 2.5-inch drives.

Deciding specification

A 2TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe drive delivers read speeds up to 7450 MB/sec and write speeds up to 6900 MB/sec, paired with a 10TB hard drive with 256MB cache. Buyers who need a dedicated GPU for rendering or gaming should look elsewhere, as this configuration relies solely on integrated graphics.

Questions about this item

Does the 40 Gbps USB4 port on the X870 motherboard cap the Samsung 990 PRO SSD at PCIe 4.0 speeds?

The USB4 ports run at 40 Gbps while the 990 PRO SSD connects via PCIe 4.0 x4 inside the case, so the internal drive is not limited by the external USB4 bandwidth.

Will the 240 mm liquid cooler and Corsair 4000D case clear the four DDR5 slots on the X870 board?

The 240 mm radiator mounts in the front of the 4000D case, leaving the top motherboard area free, so all four DDR5 slots remain accessible.

What is the first Windows 11 Pro step after powering on the Ryzen 5 9600X system?

Connect to the internet so Windows 11 Pro can finish the out-of-box experience and activate the licence.
