Liquid-cooled Ryzen 7 9800X3D desktop

This gaming desktop pairs an eight-core AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor with a 240 mm AIO liquid cooler and a GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card. It ships with 32 GB of DDR5 memory, a 1 TB NVMe SSD and a 10 TB hard drive. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed on the fast boot drive.

Quiet 240 mm AIO and 1200 W Gold PSU

The closed-loop cooler uses a 240 mm radiator and low-noise fans to keep the CPU near its 4.7 GHz base clock under load. A Thermaltake Toughpower 1200 W 80 PLUS Gold unit supplies power with Japanese main capacitors and over-voltage, under-voltage, over-power and short-circuit protection.

Upgrade from air-cooled mid-range builds

The combination of liquid cooling, 96 MB L3 cache and a 16 GB RTX 5080 removes the thermal and memory bottlenecks common in air-cooled systems with smaller caches. Buyers who need more than 32 GB of RAM or a second graphics card will find the four memory slots and single PCI Express x16 slot limiting.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 240 mm liquid CPU cooler on the AM5 socket, and which step is most often missed?

Mount the supplied AM5 bracket before placing the cold plate; the step most people skip is removing the protective film from the cold-plate base.

What maintenance will the 240 mm liquid cooler and 1200 W PSU need over time?

The sealed cooler requires no refill; clean the radiator fins and 140 mm fans yearly, and vacuum the PSU intake to keep the 80 PLUS Gold unit running cool.

What thermal limit appears first when the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 5080 run flat out?

The CPU hits its 96 MB L3 cache thermal ceiling before the GPU reaches its 16 GB VRAM limit, so sustained loads throttle the processor first.
