Custom Threadripper 9960X workstation

This liquid-cooled tower pairs a 24-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9960X processor with 512GB of DDR5 ECC memory and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card. It ships with Windows 11 Pro and combines 8TB of NVMe solid-state storage with a 10TB hard drive.

Suited for simulation, rendering and AI development

The 24 cores and 48 threads handle heavy multi-threaded workloads while the ECC memory protects data integrity during long compute jobs. Buyers who need certified ISV drivers or dual-GPU configurations should consider other platforms.

512GB DDR5 ECC capacity

The memory kit fills eight slots with error-correcting DDR5 modules running at platform-supported speeds. This capacity ceiling is fixed by the motherboard design and cannot be expanded further.

Questions about this item

What case clearance and fan mounts does the 360 mm liquid cooler require?

The system uses a Corsair 5000D Frame case with a 360 mm radiator and includes front and rear 120 mm fans for airflow.

How is the CPU cooler mounted on the sTR5 socket, and what step is often missed?

The 360 mm AIO cooler attaches to the sTR5 socket using the supplied Threadripper mounting kit; the step often missed is tightening the screws in a diagonal pattern to ensure even pressure.

Which storage drives may need replacement first and what are their interfaces?

The two 4 TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSDs and the 10 TB SATA HDD are the primary storage devices; the HDD has moving parts and typically reaches end of life before the solid-state drives.
