Threadripper 9960X 24-core workstation

This liquid-cooled tower pairs a 24-core AMD Threadripper 9960X at 4.2 GHz with 64 GB of DDR5 ECC memory and an Nvidia RTX A400 graphics card. It ships with Windows 11 Pro and a 1200 W 80 Plus Gold power supply. The system is built for professional workloads that demand high core counts and certified drivers.

Upgrade from consumer desktop or older Threadripper

The jump is worthwhile when your current machine hits thread limits in rendering, simulation or heavy multitasking and you need ECC memory stability. The 24 cores and 48 threads at up to 5.3 GHz with 128 MB L3 cache provide the parallel throughput that quad-channel consumer platforms cannot match. Buyers who only need occasional bursts of compute will not see proportional gains.

1 TB NVMe plus 10 TB HDD headroom

The Samsung 990 PRO delivers up to 7450 MB/s reads and 6900 MB/s writes for active project files and OS responsiveness. The 10 TB SATA drive with 256 MB cache stores large archives, raw footage or dataset libraries without frequent shuffling. Workflows that exceed 64 GB RAM or require multi-GPU compute will outgrow this configuration.

Questions about this item

What case dimensions and drive bays does the Corsair 5000D FRAME provide for this tower?

The case measures 520 x 245 x 520 mm and includes internal bays for two 3.5-inch and four 2.5-inch drives, with front and rear 120 mm fans already fitted.

Which CPU socket and cooler mounting does the Threadripper 9960X require on the TRX50 AERO D motherboard?

The processor uses the sTR5 socket; the included 360 mm liquid cooler mounts directly to the motherboard's Threadripper bracket, so apply thermal paste evenly before securing the cold plate.

When should the 10 TB SATA hard drive with 256 MB cache be considered for replacement?

Monitor SMART reallocated-sector count and pending-sector attributes; replace the drive once reallocated sectors appear or the pending-sector count stops at zero after a full surface scan.
