Workstation for CAD and CAE modelling

This desktop workstation targets engineers and designers running SolidWorks, CAM and CAE workflows. A 12-core AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D processor and 192GB DDR5 memory handle large assemblies and simulation data. The NVIDIA RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell GPU adds 32GB VRAM for GPU-accelerated rendering and compute tasks. Storage combines 8TB NVMe SSD capacity across two 4TB drives with a 10TB HDD for archival files.

Liquid cooling and 850W Bronze power supply

A 240mm quiet-edition AIO liquid cooler manages CPU thermals during typical modelling sessions. The Thermaltake Smart 850W 80 PLUS Bronze PSU uses a Japanese main capacitor and a 140mm low-noise fan. Protection circuits cover over-voltage, under-voltage, over-power and short-circuit events. Intel 2.5Gb Ethernet and Wi-Fi 7 2x2 connectivity support collaborative workflows without extra adapters.

Sustained compute with 128MB L3 cache

The Ryzen 9 9900X3D maintains up to 5.50 GHz boost across 12 cores and 24 threads, backed by 128MB L3 cache for data-heavy simulation loops. Samsung 990 PRO SSDs deliver sequential reads up to 7450 MB/s and writes up to 6900 MB/s, keeping scratch disks responsive. The RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell 32GB frame buffer supports extended GPU compute passes without paging. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit provides the OS environment for professional applications.

Questions about this item

How is the 240mm AIO liquid cooler installed, and what step do people get wrong?

Mount the radiator with tubes at the bottom, attach the pump block to the AM5 socket using the supplied brackets, then connect the pump header and fan headers to the TUF X870-PLUS motherboard. The common mistake is orienting the radiator with tubes at the top, which traps air in the pump.

What maintenance will the 240mm AIO liquid cooler and the 140mm PSU fan need later?

The AIO is a sealed unit; no coolant replacement is required. Clean dust from the radiator fins and the PSU 140mm fan every 6–12 months using compressed air. Check pump noise annually; increased whine can indicate bearing wear.

What thermal or power limit appears first on the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and RTX PRO 4500 under sustained load?

The CPU boost algorithm caps at 5.50 GHz and 128 MB L3 cache, while the GPU draws from the 850W 80 PLUS Bronze PSU. Under continuous all-core workloads the CPU hits its thermal ceiling before the GPU saturates the power budget.
