Silver rectangular 2.5 inch SATA SSD with ADATA SU650 label

ADATA

ADATA SU650 512GB 2.5 SATA SSD

SKU CH-YSM4-H60FP

A 512 GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD with 3D NAND delivering 520 MB/s reads and 450 MB/s writes for faster desktop and laptop performance

  • Faster boot-ups with 520 MB/s sequential reads
  • Quick file transfers at 450 MB/s sequential writes
  • 512 GB capacity stores large libraries
  • 3D NAND Flash improves reliability over 2D NAND
  • 5 inch SATA form factor fits desktops and laptops

Ideal for desktop and laptop upgrades

The ADATA SU650 is a 2.5-inch internal SSD offering 512GB of storage. It uses 3D NAND Flash technology for improved reliability over older 2D NAND designs. The drive connects via a standard SATA interface. It suits users replacing a mechanical hard drive in an older system.

Sustained workload behaviour

Sequential reads reach 520 MB/s and writes reach 450 MB/s. The 3D NAND structure maintains consistent throughput during large file transfers. Performance scales linearly with the SATA bus limit. Heavy write cycles do not trigger the sharp slowdowns seen on some planar NAND drives.

Installation notes

The 2.5-inch form factor fits standard drive bays and caddies in most desktops and laptops. A 7 mm z-height matches common notebook slots. No special drivers are required for modern operating systems. Builders without a spare SATA data cable or power connector will need to source those separately.

Questions about this item

How much power and heat does the 512 GB 2.5 SATA drive produce when running continuously?

The SU650 uses low-power 3D NAND and a SATA interface, so it draws only a few watts and generates minimal heat during all-day workloads.

What connector and mounting does my laptop or desktop need for this 2.5 inch SATA SSD?

A standard 2.5 inch drive bay or caddy with a SATA data and power cable is all that is required to install the SU650.

Will the 520 MB/s read speed be limited if I connect it to an older SATA II port?

Yes, a SATA II port caps throughput at roughly half the drive's rated 520 MB/s sequential read speed.
