This AddOn E1MG-SX-OM-AO is a small form-factor pluggable transceiver built for 1-Gigabit Ethernet over multi-mode fibre. It operates at an 850nm wavelength and reaches 550 metres using LC connectors. Digital optical monitoring is included so link health can be tracked in real time. The module is new and coded for Brocade® (Formerly) equipment.

Network links needing 1-Gigabit multi-mode fibre

This transceiver suits engineers extending Brocade® (Formerly) switches or routers across campus or data-centre rows where 550 metres of multi-mode fibre is sufficient. It is not for single-mode fibre runs, nor for speeds beyond 1-Gigabit. Environments outside the 0 to 70°C range also fall outside its rating.

The 550-metre reach on 850nm multi-mode fibre is the specification that decides whether this module fits the link. If the required span exceeds that distance, or if the cabling plant is single-mode, a different transceiver type must be chosen.
