It is built for network engineers who need a hot-swappable module that fits Cisco switches and routers such as the IE3000, IE3010, 2500 Connected Grid Switch, 2000 Connected Grid Router, 3700 Series Router, ASR 901, ASR 903 and MWR 2941 platforms.

One-gigabit headroom on short runs

The module delivers 1 Gbps throughput on multi-mode fiber, which is sufficient for campus LAN uplinks and industrial Ethernet segments. It does not support single-mode fiber or speeds above 1 Gbps, so longer-haul or 10 Gbps links will require different optics.

SFP form factor and multi-mode distance limits

The SFP package fits standard SFP slots and operates with LC duplex patch cords. Multi-mode fiber reach is limited by the 1000BASE-SX standard, so the module cannot span the distances achievable with single-mode 1000BASE-LX or -ZX optics.
