104-key USB membrane keyboard combo

The Adesso AKB-137CB combines a full-size 104-key US layout keyboard with an included 1000 DPI optical mouse. Both peripherals connect via USB and feature multi-coloured illumination in green, blue, purple and red. The membrane key switches provide a slim, low-profile feel for quiet typing. Windows 2000 through Windows 10 are supported.

Thermals noise and power draw

As a wired USB keyboard and mouse set, the combo draws minimal power directly from the host ports with no external supply required. Membrane switches and the optical sensor produce no audible fan or coil noise during normal operation. The low-profile key design keeps keystroke sound to a whisper-quiet level suitable for shared spaces.

Membrane key switch feel

The keyboard uses membrane switches rather than mechanical ones, so each press has a soft, cushioned action without a distinct tactile bump or click. Buyers who prefer a crisp mechanical actuation point or per-key RGB customisation should look elsewhere. The fixed four-colour backlight cycle and single 1000 DPI mouse setting also limit personalisation options.

Questions about this item

How do I plug in the AKB-137CB keyboard and mouse, and which step do people often miss?

Connect both USB cables to separate ports on the PC; the keyboard and mouse each need their own port, and skipping the second connection leaves the mouse dead.

What part of the AKB-137CB will wear out first and need replacement?

The membrane key switches on the 104-key keyboard will lose tactile response after heavy use, while the 1000 DPI optical mouse has no moving parts to fail.

At what point does the backlight on the AKB-137CB become a limitation during long sessions?

The four-colour illumination only toggles on or off and adjusts brightness with FN keys; it cannot stay lit indefinitely without drawing continuous USB power, which may dim on some ports.
