Product Identity

The Adesso NuScan 2400U is a corded handheld barcode scanner built around a 1D CCD engine. It connects through a USB interface and draws up to 130 mA at 5 VDC. The scanner reads at 200 scans per second with a depth of field up to 12 inches using a 630 nm visible red LED light source.

Suitability

It suits retail, warehouse or healthcare workers who need a waterproof device rated IP67 that can survive submersion for 30 minutes at three feet and drops from 20 feet. Antimicrobial housing helps in hygiene-sensitive areas. Buyers who need 2D code reading, wireless mobility or long-range scanning beyond 12 inches should look at a different class of scanner.

Capacity and Headroom

The engine decodes UPC/EAN/JAN, ISBN/ISSN, Code 32, Code 39, Codabar, Code 128, Code 93, Interleaved 2 of 5, MSI/Plessy and addendum variants at a minimum 30% print contrast ratio. It handles high-volume 1D workflows comfortably but runs out when faced with QR codes, Data Matrix or damaged low-contrast labels that fall below the contrast threshold.

Questions about this item

Does the NUSCAN2400U need any software or driver installation on Windows 10 before it will scan?

The scanner connects by USB and works with Windows 10 without extra drivers; it draws up to 130 mA at 5 VDC from the port.

If I keep a PS/2 barcode scanner on the same workstation, will the NUSCAN2400U interfere with it?

The NUSCAN2400U uses only a USB interface, so it runs independently of any legacy PS/2 scanner you leave connected.

How can I verify the IP67 seal is intact after the first wash-down?

Submerge the unit in water up to 3 ft deep for 30 min; if no moisture enters the housing the IP67 rating is confirmed.
