Premium Thermal Monocular for Field Professionals

The AGM ReachIR LRF 25-384 is a new handheld thermal monocular built for hunting, law enforcement and search-and-rescue teams. It combines a 384 x 288 12-micron detector with a 25mm lens and a 50 Hz frame rate for detailed thermal imaging in darkness or adverse weather. The magnesium alloy housing carries a waterproof rating and a sub-20 millikelvin sensitivity rating for reliable operation in demanding conditions.

Integrated Rangefinder

A built-in 1,000-meter laser rangefinder provides instant distance data without a separate device. The unit includes 64GB of internal memory for video, audio and image capture, removing the need for external cards during extended missions. WiFi connectivity allows wireless file transfer and remote control from a paired mobile device. Supplied accessories include a lens cloth, soft carrying case, user manual and a removable rechargeable 18650 battery for field-swappable power.

Practical Limits of the Optical

The fixed 25mm focal length sets the field of view and detection range; users requiring wider coverage or longer identification distances would need a different lens configuration. The 1024 x 768 OLED display resolution caps the rendered detail regardless of sensor output. Wireless transfer speeds depend on the paired device and local spectrum conditions, so large 64GB archives may take considerable time to offload over WiFi.

Questions about this item

Does the removable 18650 battery require any scheduled replacement or calibration?

The 18650 cell is user-replaceable and rechargeable; no factory calibration is needed, so you simply swap in a fresh cell when run-time drops below your needs.

Which component reaches its limit first during extended observation — sensor sensitivity or laser rangefinder duty cycle?

The 384×288, 12 µm sensor maintains its sub-20 mK sensitivity continuously, while the 1 000 m laser rangefinder is rated for single measurements rather than rapid-fire bursts, so the LRF duty cycle is the practical ceiling.

How much heat does the magnesium housing emit and what is the fan noise during all-day use?

The passively cooled magnesium alloy body runs silent; surface temperature stays comfortable to hold because the 50 Hz sensor and OLED display draw modest power from the 18650 cell.
