Scale and complexity

This Airfix Gloster Meteor F.8 kit is a 1/48 scale plastic model containing 165 parts. It is designed for adult hobbyists who enjoy building detailed military aircraft replicas from the early jet era.

Who should build this

The kit suits modellers comfortable with Level 3 assembly who want the option to finish their Meteor in one of two authentic decal schemes. Builders looking for a simpler snap-together experience or a model that includes a display stand will need a different product.

Decal options

Two scheme decal sets are included in the box, letting you represent either of the historical markings without buying extra sheets. The parts are moulded in light grey and require paint and cement to complete.

Questions about this item

How much noise or heat does the assembled 1/48 Gloster Meteor F.8 generate when displayed continuously?

The completed model is a static plastic kit with no moving parts or electronics, so it produces no noise or heat while on display.

Which tools and consumables must I already have to build this 165-part kit?

You will need plastic cement and model paints, as neither is included in the box.

Will the finished 11.125-inch-long Meteor sit securely on the same shelf as my older 1/48 aircraft?

Yes, the assembled model measures roughly 11.125 inches long by 9.25 inches wide and rests on its own landing gear like other 1/48 kits.
