Aja Video Systems

Aja Video Systems 12G-SDI Single Mode ST Fiber Transmitter SFP

SKU CH-HS6Y-YM5ZJ

Transmits 12G-SDI video over single-mode ST fiber for extended broadcast reach

  • Extended reach — 12G-SDI over single-mode ST fibre
  • Full 12G-SDI bandwidth for uncompressed video
  • Rugged design for studio and field use
  • Seamless integration with existing SDI infrastructure
  • Single-channel 12G-SDI fibre transmitter SFP

Professional 12G-SDI Fiber Transmitter

The Aja Video Systems SFP module transmits 12G-SDI video signals over single mode ST fiber. It is built for broadcast, post-production and live-event engineers who need to extend uncompressed video links beyond copper limits.

Single mode ST fiber interface

The only specification that decides fit is the single mode ST fiber connector paired with 12G-SDI bandwidth. If your infrastructure uses multi-mode cable, LC connectors or a lower SDI rate, this module will not connect or pass the required signal.

Hot-swap SFP installation

The transmitter slides into any standard SFP cage and locks with a bail latch, so no tools or power-down are required. The most common issue is mismatched fiber polarity or a dirty ST ferrule, which causes immediate signal loss until cleaned and re-seated.

Questions about this item

What does the 12G-SDI rating mean for video quality in a live production chain?

It transports a full 12G-SDI payload across one single-mode fibre so 4K or high-frame-rate signals arrive uncompressed and without added latency.

How does the ST connector limit the link in practice?

The ST ferrule mates with standard single-mode patch cords, so reach is bounded by the fibre budget of the module rather than the connector itself.

What physical slot and power envelope does this SFP need to mount?

It fits any standard SFP cage and draws power from the host port, requiring no external supply or special mounting hardware.
