98% compact layout with smart display

The AK980 uses a 98 per cent layout that keeps the numeric keypad and function row while reducing desk footprint. A built-in TFT screen shows the time, battery level, connection mode and custom GIFs. An integrated knob adjusts volume and lighting directly without opening software menus.

Three connection modes for mixed setups

Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz wireless and USB-C wired links let the keyboard pair with laptops, tablets, phones and desktop PCs. Switching between devices is handled through the keyboard itself so users can move from gaming rig to tablet without re-pairing. Buyers who need a fully programmable macro layer or per-key actuation tuning should look at something else.

Hot-swappable sockets accept 3-pin

The board ships with Murad linear switches but the sockets support any standard MX-style stem so owners can swap tactile, clicky or linear options using the included puller. This single feature decides whether the keyboard can evolve with changing feel preferences over time.

Questions about this item

What desk depth is needed for the 15.16 in x 5.75 in footprint of the AK980?

The keyboard measures 15.16 inches wide by 5.75 inches deep, so allow at least 6 inches of clear desk depth plus room for cable routing or the 1.6 m charging cable when wired.

How do you switch the AK980 between Bluetooth, 2.4G and USB-C modes, and which step is often missed?

Use the mode key or combo shown in the manual to cycle through Bluetooth, 2.4G and USB-C; the step users miss is selecting the matching input on the target device before the keyboard pairs.

When will the 8000 mAh battery need recharging and what indicates it?

The TFT display shows battery level; with backlight on expect about 28 hours, with backlight off up to 110 hours, then recharge using the included 1.6 m USB-C cable.
