Two-metre USB 3.0 extension pair

This AJMRTC two-pack provides 2-metre Type A male-to-female cables rated for USB 3.0 speeds up to 5 Gbps. The short length keeps desk wiring tidy while extending peripheral reach. Plug-and-play operation requires no drivers or configuration. Backward compatibility covers USB 2.0 and 1.1 hosts and devices.

Suited for nearby USB-A peripherals

Users who need a short, clutter-free link for a mouse, keyboard, printer, flash drive or webcam will find the 2-metre length practical. The pair is convenient for equipping two ports or two workstations. Buyers who require longer runs, USB-C connectors or power-delivery negotiation should look at other cable types.

5 Gbps USB 3.0 transfer rate

The single specification that decides fit is the 5 Gbps signalling rate of the USB 3.0 interface. It determines whether the cable can sustain the throughput needed by high-speed drives or cameras. If the connected device only operates at USB 2.0 or 1.1 speeds, the extra bandwidth remains unused but the cable still functions.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and do I need to buy anything else to use the cables?

The box contains two USB 3.0 extension cables, each with a Type A male plug on one end and a Type A female socket on the other. No extra adapters or drivers are required for standard USB-A devices.

Both cables are the same length — is there any reason to choose one over the other?

Both cables are identical 2-metre (6.6 ft) Type A male-to-female extensions rated for 5 Gbps. Pick whichever reaches your device; there is no functional difference between them.

Will I actually see 5 Gbps speeds when I plug a flash drive into one of these cables?

The cable supports the USB 3.0 specification up to 5 Gbps and is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1. Real-world throughput depends on the host controller, the drive and the port you connect to.
