Guardrail Winch for Tensioning

The Allegro 9401-10 is a hand-operated winch built for tensioning guardrail cable during installation or repair. Its aluminium construction keeps the tool light enough for single-person use on site. Road crews and maintenance teams use it to pull cable tight before final clamping.

Aluminium Frame and Yellow Finish

The aluminium body resists corrosion better than plain steel when stored outdoors or transported in open beds. A yellow powder-coat finish makes the winch easy to spot in a crowded tool box or on a truck deck. No separate lubrication kit or carry case is included with the unit.

35-Foot Half-Inch Cable Capacity

The drum accepts up to 35 feet of 1/2-inch cable, giving enough length for typical barrier spans between posts. The 36-inch overall handle length provides mechanical advantage for firm tension without excessive effort. It is not suited for heavier wire-rope diameters or continuous industrial lifting cycles.

Questions about this item

Will the aluminum frame or the cable need periodic replacement with regular use?

The aluminum construction resists corrosion, but the 35 ft cable should be inspected for fraying or kinks and replaced if wear is visible.

What is the first limit reached when operating the winch continuously under load?

The 35 ft cable length determines the maximum pull distance before the line must be reset or extended.

Does the hand-crank mechanism generate noticeable heat or noise during all-day operation?

Manual operation produces minimal noise and no motor heat; only normal mechanical sound from the crank and cable drum.
