Altec Lansing Baby Boom XL IMW270 speaker

The Altec Lansing Baby Boom XL IMW270 is a portable Bluetooth speaker built for outdoor use. Its IP67-rated chassis resists water, snow and dirt while the buoyant design prevents it from sinking. The speaker delivers loud, accurate audio for up to 6 hours on a single charge.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This speaker suits listeners who need a rugged, waterproof companion for pool, beach or campsite trips and want voice-assistant access via the Just Ask feature. It also fits users who plan to link two units for wider stereo coverage. Buyers who need longer playback than 6 hours or who require a wired audio input should consider other options.

Bundled accessories and software impact

The feature set relies on the integrated rechargeable battery, Bluetooth pairing and the IP67-rated enclosure. No extra cables, apps or mounting hardware are mentioned as included.

Questions about this item

What Bluetooth device do I need to pair with the Baby Boom XL IMW270?

Any Bluetooth-enabled phone, tablet or laptop will pair wirelessly with the speaker for audio playback.

Can I keep using an older speaker that lacks true wireless pairing alongside this one?

Yes, the Baby Boom XL IMW270 works independently; its true wireless pairing only links two IMW270 units together for stereo sound.

How do I know the IP67 rating is holding up after I submerge the speaker?

The buoyant design keeps it floating, and if audio continues playing clearly after removal from water the seal is intact.
