AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Reference Edition graphics card

SKU CH-V317-H5KHQ

A reference-design graphics card with 5120 CUDA cores, 16 GB GDDR6 on a 256-bit bus, 2015 MHz base and 2250 MHz boost clocks, PCIe 4.0, and DP 1.4, HDMI 2.1 plus USB-C outputs in a 267 mm.

  • 5120 stream processors deliver high compute throughput for demanding workloads
  • 16GB GDDR6 on a 256-bit bus provides ample bandwidth for 4K gaming and content creation
  • Boost clock up to 2250 MHz sustains performance in heavy scenes
  • PCIe 4.0 interface enables fast data transfer with compatible platforms
  • Triple-slot 267 mm design with dual 8-pin power fits standard ATX builds

Radeon RX 6900 XT Reference Card

The AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Reference Edition is a graphics card built on the 7nm RDNA2 architecture. It provides 16GB of GDDR6 memory across a 256-bit bus for gaming and content creation workloads. The reference design occupies 2.5 slots and measures 267 mm in length.

PCI Express 4.0 interface limits

This card uses a PCI Express 4.0 x16 connection. Bandwidth is constrained by the slot generation and the 256-bit memory interface. The board draws up to 300 W typical power through two 8-pin connectors and the supplier recommends an 850 W power supply.

5120 stream processors decide fit

The GPU contains 5120 CUDA cores operating at a 2015 MHz base clock and a 2250 MHz boost clock. Memory runs at 16 Gbps. This core count and clock configuration determines whether the card meets the performance target for a given build.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 16 GB version or is there a smaller option?

The card is offered only with 16 GB of GDDR6 memory, so there is no smaller capacity to choose.

What does the 2250 MHz boost clock actually deliver in a real system?

The 2250 MHz boost is the peak frequency the GPU can reach under load; sustained speeds will vary with cooling and power headroom.

How does the PCIe 4.0 interface affect bandwidth in practice?

PCIe 4.0 provides up to 16 GT/s per lane, doubling the raw bandwidth of PCIe 3.0 for compatible motherboards.
