What the C10 does and who buys it

The AMOI C10 is a pocket-sized music player with 8GB of built-in flash memory and a micro-SD slot for expansion. It plays MP3, WAV, WMA, APE and FLAC audio files plus AMV video and TXT e-books on a 1.5-inch TFT screen. The metal body and track-wheel control suit runners, gym users and anyone who wants a dedicated device separate from a phone.

Limits of the built-in storage and screen

Eight gigabytes holds roughly two thousand typical MP3 tracks; larger libraries need a micro-SD card up to 128GB. The 128-by-160-pixel display shows album art and lyrics but is too small for comfortable video watching. Battery life reaches 60 hours for audio and 90 hours for recording, after which a 2.5-hour charge via the micro-USB 2.0 port is required.

Getting it running and common snags

Drag music files to the player or the card — no special software is needed for audio. Video must be converted to AMV with the supplied Windows tool before transfer. Lyrics appear only when the .lrc file shares the exact name and folder as the song. The button lock prevents accidental presses during exercise; forget to unlock and the controls will seem dead.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 8 GB model or one of the larger 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB versions?

The player ships with 8 GB of built-in flash memory and accepts microSD cards up to 128 GB, so you can add far more space later if you start with the base version.

What does the 60-hour play-time figure mean in daily use?

It is the rated continuous audio playback on a full charge of the 800 mAh lithium-polymer battery; actual time will vary with volume level, file type and whether the screen stays on.

What does the Micro 5-pin USB 2.0 port limit in practice?

The port handles charging in about 2.5 hours and file transfers at USB 2.0 speeds; it does not support faster USB standards or video output.
