3/4" Drive Deep Socket for Hazardous Areas

The Ampco 3/4" drive SAE socket fits a 1-5/8" hex fastener with a six-point deep profile. It is machined from aluminum bronze that carries FM approval and meets ASTM A342. The nonsparking construction makes it suitable for environments where flammable vapours or dust are present. Hand-tool use only; the piece is not impact rated.

Upgrade from standard steel sockets in explosive

Standard chrome-vanadium sockets can generate sparks and are not FM approved for hazardous locations. Switching to this aluminum-bronze deep socket removes that ignition risk while retaining the same drive size and hex engagement. The change is worth it whenever facility safety standards require certified nonsparking hand tools.

Questions about this item

What drive size ratchet or breaker bar does the 3/4 inch drive socket fit?

The socket has a 3/4 inch square drive opening, so it fits any standard 3/4 inch drive ratchet, breaker bar, or torque wrench.

How do you install the deep 6-point socket onto a 1-5/8 inch hex fastener, and what is the common mistake?

Slide the deep 6-point opening fully over the hex head until it seats on the shoulder; the mistake is stopping at the first contact instead of pushing to full depth.
