Non-Sparking Box Wrench
The Ampco W-3180 is a double-ended box wrench made from aluminum bronze for use where sparking tools create a fire or explosion risk. Maintenance crews in refineries, chemical plants and marine environments rely on this non-magnetic, corrosion-resistant alloy. It fits SAE fasteners measuring 3/4 in and 7/8 in across the flats. The 12-1/4 in overall length provides leverage for tight connections.
15 Degree Offset Limitation
Each box end is angled 15 degrees from the handle axis to clear obstructions and keep knuckles away from hot or sharp surfaces. That fixed offset works well on exposed bolts but cannot reach fasteners recessed deeper than the wrench head allows. The double-box design also prevents use on fasteners that require an open-end or flare-nut profile. Buyers needing a straight handle or a different head angle cannot meet those needs with this tool.
Aluminum Bronze Alloy
The single specification that decides suitability is the aluminum bronze construction. This material is non-sparking, non-magnetic and resistant to corrosion in harsh chemical atmospheres. It is softer than hardened steel, so it will deform under extreme torque before a steel wrench would. Choose this wrench only when the environment demands non-sparking safety; for general mechanical work a standard steel wrench offers higher strength and longer service life.

Questions about this item
Should I choose the 3/4 in or 7/8 in head size?
This wrench has both 3/4 in and 7/8 in box ends on the same tool, so you do not choose between them.
What does the 12 1/4 in overall length mean when I am working in a tight engine bay?
The 12 1/4 in length gives extra reach for deep fasteners while keeping the 15 degree offset clear of obstructions.
How does the SAE sizing affect which fasteners I can turn?
SAE sizing means the 3/4 in and 7/8 in openings fit inch-based hex nuts and bolts, not metric sizes.
