Dual XLR and USB Connection

The AmpliTank K688 is a unidirectional dynamic microphone built for podcasters, streamers and remote workers who need one mic that works with both analogue and digital chains. Its cardioid polar pattern focuses on the speaker while rejecting off-axis noise such as drive whine or fan hum. No stand, arm or XLR cable is included in the box.

130 dB SPL and 80 dB Signal-to-Noise

The capsule handles 130 dB SPL without distortion, giving ample headroom for loud vocals or close-miked instruments. Sensitivity sits at -50 dB, so quiet sources still register cleanly above the noise floor. The XLR path delivers a signal-to-noise ratio above 80 dB for studio-grade dynamics, while the USB path adds a built-in gain knob and tap-to-mute that only function over USB.

8.2 ft USB Cable and Standard Thread Mounts

An 8.2 ft USB cable enables direct plug-and-play recording on Windows or Mac with no driver installation. The microphone body measures 118 x 157 x 225 mm and weighs 0.59 kg, mounting on any 5/8" or 3/8" threaded stand or boom arm. Real-time monitoring and gain control are available only when the USB connection is active.

Questions about this item

Will the K688's 5/8" and 3/8" threads fit the boom arm I already own?

Yes, the microphone uses standard 5/8" and 3/8" connectors, so it mounts on most existing boom arms and stands without an adapter.

How do I confirm the cardioid capsule is rejecting fan noise as claimed?

Face the top of the microphone, speak within a close distance, and listen through headphones; the unidirectional pattern should suppress rear noise like computer fans.

Does the box include the 8.2 ft USB cable and an XLR cable?

The 8.2 ft USB cable is included for direct computer connection; an XLR cable is not supplied and must be purchased separately for mixer use.
