ankmax UC4M2 USB 4 NVMe enclosure

The ankmax UC4M2 is a new USB 4 Type-C enclosure that accepts a single M.2 2280 NVMe SSD up to 8 TB. It uses a dual-chip controller to deliver up to 40 Gbps bandwidth and works with Windows, macOS and Linux without drivers.

Suits users with NVMe M.2 2280 drives only

This enclosure fits M-key or B+M-key NVMe modules in the 2280 form factor. It cannot accept drives of other protocols, sizes or keying, so buyers with shorter modules or non-NVMe interfaces must choose a different solution.

40 Gbps USB 4 Type-C interface

The USB 4.0 Type-C port provides a maximum 40 Gbps link and is compatible with Thunderbolt 3 and 4 hosts. Measured sequential reads reach 2,712 MB/s and writes 2,445 MB/s with a 1 TB NVMe SSD on a MacBook Air.

Questions about this item

What M.2 SSD must I already have for this UC4M2 enclosure to work?

You need an M Key or B+M Key NVMe drive in the 2280 form factor, up to 8TB capacity; other protocols, sizes or interfaces are not supported.

Will my Thunderbolt 3 laptop still reach full speed with this enclosure?

Yes, the included Thunderbolt 3 cable and dual-chip controller make it compatible with Thunderbolt 3/4 and USB 3.1/3.0 hosts, so older ports still work at their native rates.

How can I confirm the UC4M2 is delivering its rated performance after I install the drive?

Run a benchmark on a supported host; the enclosure can reach read speeds up to 2,712MB/s and write speeds up to 2,445MB/s when paired with a compatible NVMe SSD.
