40Gbps USB4 cable for Thunderbolt 4/3

This 3.3FT male-to-male cable delivers up to 40Gbps bandwidth and 240W power delivery at 48V/5A. It supports single 8K@60Hz or dual 4K@60Hz video output. The braided construction suits external SSD, eGPU and docking station connections.

Sustained 40Gbps throughput for eGPU

At the full Gen3 40Gbps rate the link can move 14 hours of HD video or 25000 photos in about a minute. Gen2 ports drop to 20Gbps, so sustained speed depends on the host controller. The 240W rating holds under continuous load when both charger and device negotiate 48V/5A.

Simple plug-in, check port generation first

No driver install is required; the cable works immediately with any USB-C port. The only common issue is expecting 40Gbps or 240W from a Gen2 or lower-power port, which caps bandwidth at 20Gbps and reduces charging speed. Verify host specs before blaming the cable.

Questions about this item

Does the 240W charging spec mean the cable runs hot during all-day use?

The cable is rated for 48V/5A up to 240W; it carries the current without active cooling, so warmth is normal under sustained load.

What charger and device must I already own to reach 240W?

A USB-C power source and a device that both support 48V/5A USB Power Delivery are required to deliver 240W.

Will this 40Gbps cable work with my older Thunderbolt dock?

Yes, it is compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and Thunderbolt 3 docks and will operate at the dock's supported speed.
