USB 3.0 extension cable for peripherals

This USB 3.0 extension cable connects a computer or Windows tablet to USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 peripherals such as hard drives, hubs, mice, keyboards, flash drives and printers. The 0.3m length adds reach without excess slack. It supports SuperSpeed data transfer at up to 5 Gbps while maintaining backwards compatibility with existing USB 2.0 devices. The blue cable identifies the USB 3.0 connection at a glance.

Passive cable with no active cooling

The cable is a passive copper assembly with no fan, pump or active components, so it produces no noise and draws no power beyond what the connected devices require. Thermals are limited to the slight warmth of normal conductor resistance during data transfer. No external power adapter is needed and the cable does not add measurable load to the host port.

Blue colour identifies USB 3.0 port

The blue jacket lets users spot the USB 3.0 link instantly among other cables, reducing the chance of plugging a SuperSpeed device into a slower port. No driver discs, configuration utilities or firmware tools are bundled; the cable works immediately on any standard USB host. The only included item is the cable itself.

Questions about this item

How do I plug in the 0.3m A-male to A-female cable without forcing the blue connector?

Align the USB 3.0 A-male plug with the host port and the A-female end with the device; the blue inserts only go in one way, so never push if you feel resistance.

Will the gold-plated contacts on this 5 Gbps cable need cleaning later?

The contacts are gold-plated to resist oxidation; a dry compressed-air blast once a year is enough unless the cable sits in a dusty rack.

At what length does the 5 Gbps signal start to degrade on this 0.3m lead?

At 0.3 metres the cable meets the USB 3.0 spec for full 5 Gbps throughput; longer runs would need an active repeater.
