USB-to-RJ45 Console Cable with FTDI Chip

This 12 ft cable connects a laptop USB port to the RJ45 console port on Cisco, Huawei, HP, Arista, Opengear, Aruba and Juniper routers and switches. The built-in FTDI chip provides reliable driver support across Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. It is designed for network engineers and administrators who need direct device access.

Ideal for Console Management Not for Network Data

The cable suits professionals configuring gear through a serial console interface. It will not serve users who need an Ethernet link for regular network traffic or a standard USB peripheral connection. Buyers requiring longer reach or a different connector type should consider other options.

Questions about this item

Will the 12 ft cable reach the console port on my older Cisco router from my laptop?

The 12 ft length provides ample reach between a laptop USB port and the RJ45 console port on legacy Cisco, HP or Juniper equipment.

How can I confirm the FTDI chip is recognised after I plug the cable in?

Open Device Manager on Windows or run lsusb on Linux; the FTDI device should appear as a new COM or ttyUSB port without extra drivers.
