Setup checks

Verify that both host and peripheral support USB4 or Thunderbolt to obtain the full 40 Gbps rate. Confirm the power source can supply up to 48 V at 5 A for 240 W charging. Ensure the monitor accepts 8K@60Hz or dual 4K@60Hz input over USB-C.

Questions about this item

Does my laptop need a USB-C port that supports USB PD 3.1 to get 240 W charging from this cable?

Yes, the cable delivers up to 240 W at 48 V/5 A, but the host and charger must both support USB PD 3.1 to reach that level.

Will this cable run at 40 Gbps with my Thunderbolt 3 dock?

The cable is compatible with Thunderbolt 3 devices, yet the link will negotiate to the dock's maximum speed rather than the cable's 40 Gbps ceiling.

How can I confirm the cable is driving an 8K display at 60 Hz after I connect it?

Check your OS display settings or monitor on-screen menu; they should report 8K resolution at 60 Hz if the link is operating as intended.
