Rackmount Switched Metered PDU

The APC AP8661 is a 0U rackmount power distribution unit that provides switched, metered-by-outlet control for data-centre and server-room deployments. It delivers 208V three-phase power through 21 IEC 320 C13 outlets and 3 IEC 320 C19 outlets, allowing remote power cycling and per-outlet energy monitoring for connected IT equipment.

Input connection and derated current check

Verify that the facility provides a 208V 50/60 Hz three-phase supply with a NEMA L21-20P receptacle and that the branch circuit can support the 20A maximum input current. The regulatory derated input current is 16A, so the upstream breaker and wiring must be rated accordingly to avoid nuisance tripping.

Zero-U vertical mounting and environmental limits

The 0U form factor mounts vertically in a standard rack enclosure without consuming horizontal rack units, freeing space for servers and network gear. A 6 ft input cord reaches nearby power sources, while the unit operates from -5 °C to 45 °C at up to 95% relative humidity and elevations up to 3000 m.

Questions about this item

Does the PDU ship with mounting hardware and cables, or must they be purchased separately?

The unit includes the PDU with a 6 ft cord terminated in a NEMA L21-20P plug; mounting brackets and any IEC C13 or C19 power cords for connected equipment are not included and must be sourced separately.

How do the 21 C13 and 3 C19 outlets help me decide which version to choose?

Choose this model when you need up to 21 standard server cords (C13) plus three high-current connections (C19) on a single 0U vertical chassis fed by a 208 V, 20 A three-phase supply.

What does the 5.7 kW headline figure mean once the PDU is installed in a rack?

It is the maximum apparent power the strip can deliver when each phase runs at the 16 A regulatory derated limit, giving 5.7 kW of usable capacity for connected servers and network gear.
