Metered 30A PDU for Rack Power Monitoring

The APC AP8832 is a metered power distribution unit built for 100V to 120V single-phase feeds at 30A. It supplies twenty-four NEMA 5-20R outlets from a single NEMA L5-30P input plug. Data centre managers use it to track real-time load and set alarm thresholds that warn before a circuit overloads.

Vertical 0U Mount with 10 ft Cord

The 0U vertical form factor installs alongside rack equipment without consuming horizontal rack units. A 9.8 ft input cord reaches floor-mounted or overhead power sources. Twenty-four front-facing 5-20R receptacles accept standard North American plugs and the unit carries cUL, UL 60950-1, FCC Class A, ICES-003 and PSE certifications.

Monitored Thermals and 2.9 kW Capacity

An integrated temperature and humidity sensor port lets environmental data feed into the same Web, SNMP or Telnet interface used for power metering. The PDU operates from -5 °C to 45 °C at up to 95 % relative humidity and 3000 m elevation. Overload protection is provided by ultra low-profile circuit breakers rated for the 24 A derated input.

Questions about this item

What does the NEMA L5-30P input cap at in practice?

The NEMA L5-30P input is rated for 30 A maximum, with a regulatory derated limit of 24 A continuous at 100–120 V, delivering up to 2.9 kW.

What mounting hardware does the 0U vertical design require?

The 0U vertical PDU mounts in the zero-U space of a standard rack using the included toolless mounting brackets; no extra rail kit is needed.

How is the unit configured after mounting, and what step is often missed?

Connect the 9.8 ft cord to the L5-30P source, then access the web, SNMP or Telnet interface to set alarm thresholds; users often skip the threshold setup and miss overload alerts.
