Apex UG-EX-376-8 Extension Overview

The Apex UG-EX-376-8 is an impact socket extension designed for 3/8 drive tools. It provides eight inches of additional reach for fastener work in automotive and mechanical projects. Professional technicians and DIY users gain access to recessed or obstructed bolts. The pin retainer helps keep sockets secure during high-torque applications.

Installation and Common Issues

Attach the extension between the drive tool and the impact socket using the 3/8 square drive. Ensure the pin retainer engages fully to prevent the socket from detaching under load. A frequent issue is applying excess torque with a standard ratchet instead of an impact wrench. Another problem occurs if debris blocks the retainer pin from seating properly.

Compatibility Checks Before Ordering

Verify that your impact wrench or driver uses a 3/8 square drive anvil. Confirm the socket you intend to use also has a 3/8 drive bore. Check that eight inches of added length clears surrounding components in your workspace. Ensure you are using impact-rated sockets rather than chrome hand sockets.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the 3/8" drive Apex UG-EX-376-8 extension is seated correctly?

The pin retainer locks onto the socket's detent ball; you will feel a positive click and the socket will not pull off without depressing the pin.

What comes with the Apex UG-EX-376-8 and what must I supply?

The box contains only the 8" impact socket extension; you must provide a 3/8" drive impact ratchet or gun and compatible impact sockets.

Which Apex impact extension length should I choose for deep fasteners?

Select the 8" UG-EX-376-8 when you need extra reach past obstructions; shorter extensions are better where space is tight.
