Purpose and compatibility

The APG Cash Drawer CD-007 is a 5-foot cable kit designed to link a cash drawer to an IBM 468 terminal using the MultiPRO interface. It suits retailers and system integrators who need a direct replacement or new installation cable for that specific terminal family.

Build and connectors

The beige cable terminates in an RJ-45 male plug at one end and an RS-485 connector at the other, matching the drawer and terminal ports respectively. Its 10.00 ft specification reflects the manufactured assembly length, while the moulded ends are built for repeated insertion in daily point-of-sale use.

Interface limits

The MultiPRO interface on the IBM 468 terminal defines the electrical signalling and pinout, so the cable cannot be used with terminals or drawers that expect a different protocol. Buyers needing a longer reach or a different host connector will find this fixed-length, fixed-pinout assembly unsuitable.

Questions about this item

Does the MultiPRO interface for the IBM 468 Terminal cap the cable length at 10.00 ft?

The cable is manufactured at 10.00 ft; the MultiPRO interface for the IBM 468 Terminal does not impose a shorter limit.

What clearance is needed for the RJ-45 and RS-485 ends to sit flush?

Allow roughly 45 mm depth behind the drawer for the RJ-45 male plug and the RS-485 connector to seat without strain.

Which end plugs in first when installing the CD-007, and what is the common mistake?

Connect the RJ-45 end to the cash drawer first, then the RS-485 end to the terminal; the frequent error is reversing the order.
