10.2" Retina iPad for everyday use

The 8th-generation iPad with 32 GB of storage and Wi-Fi 5 suits students, families and casual users who need a reliable tablet for web browsing, video streaming and light productivity on iPadOS. Its 10.2-inch Retina display at 2160 x 1620 resolution delivers clear text and vivid colour. The A12 Bionic chip handles everyday apps and multitasking smoothly. Front and rear cameras support FaceTime calls and basic photography.

Upgrade from older 9.7" models

Moving from a 9.7-inch iPad or an earlier 10.2-inch model with less storage brings a larger screen, higher pixel density at 264 ppi and the faster A12 Bionic processor. The jump is worthwhile when you need more screen space for split-view apps or extra capacity for offline media. Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2 maintain compatibility with current routers and accessories. The Lightning port and first-generation Apple Pencil support remain unchanged.

Check iPadOS compatibility and accessory needs

Verify that your essential apps run on the iPadOS version supported by this hardware before ordering. Confirm you have a Lightning cable and charger, as the tablet uses the Lightning connector for charging and data. If you plan to draw or take handwritten notes, budget for a first-generation Apple Pencil, which pairs and charges via the same port. The 32 GB capacity may fill quickly with large games or offline video libraries.

Questions about this item

What screen size and resolution does the 10.2" iPad 8th Gen have?

The 10.2-inch Retina display runs at 2160 x 1620 pixels and 264 ppi, giving sharp text and vivid colours for reading and media.

How do I set up the iPad, and which step is often missed?

Power on, choose language and region, connect to Wi-Fi 5, then sign in with an Apple ID; many skip the Apple ID step and lose access to iCloud backup and the App Store.

What accessories will need replacing over time?

The Lightning cable and any paired Apple Pencil 1st Gen tip wear with daily charging and drawing; keep spares so a frayed cable or worn nib does not interrupt work.
