Refurbished iPad 2 16 GB tablet

This refurbished Apple iPad 2 model MC954LL/A comes with 16 GB of built-in storage and a 9.7-inch display running iOS 4.3. It is suited for basic media consumption, web browsing and FaceTime calls on a legacy platform.

Thermals noise and power in daily use

The dual-core A5 chip at 1.00 GHz and 512 MB of memory handle light tasks without noticeable heat or fan noise because the tablet has no active cooling. Bluetooth 2.1 and 802.11n wireless add minimal power draw during typical use.

Behaviour under sustained load

Extended video playback or gaming will eventually warm the aluminium rear and reduce the quoted 10-hour battery runtime. The 1024 x 768 screen and single-core graphics limit performance in modern apps, so prolonged heavy workloads are not practical.

Questions about this item

How do I set up Wi-Fi on the 802.11n iPad 2, and what step do people miss?

Tap Settings, choose Wi-Fi, select your network, enter the password, then confirm the check-mark appears — many forget to wait for the check-mark and assume they are connected.

Which component of the 16 GB iPad 2 will need replacement first?

The internal lithium-ion battery is the part that degrades over time; the 16 GB flash storage and 512 MB memory are not user-serviceable.

What limit appears first during prolonged HD video recording on the iPad 2?

The 10-hour battery rating is reached before thermal throttling or the 16 GB storage fills during continuous HD capture.
